Between 12th and 18th October 2015 the Koper sport arena Bonifika staged the Karate World Championships. It was the first time since 1968 that the three different disciplines – traditional, general and contact were presented together. At the event, which had previously been organised solely in Los Angeles, California, SporTour ensured everything was carried out to the highest standard.

The competition involved more than 1000 participants from 42 countries. A major challenge was created by a late decision that the championships would take place in Slovenia instead of São Paulo, Brazil. With three months preparations, representatives of Karate associations and SporTour staff, with Damjan Pintar acting as the chief coordinator, successfully put this high level competition together. Accommodation, official transfers, accompanying events, volunteers, marketing, offical merchandise as well as PR, all had to be carefully planned in order to successfully execute the championships. Additional organisational management was required for the seminars and the UWK Congress, held together with the event and hosting high-ranking officials.

The Karate World Championships went smoothly and SporTour´s team again proved they were able to successfully and effectively deliver a major global project.
