Training camps for Sri Lankan athletes
Acting as advisor to the first ever Sri Lankan team to participate in Asian Winter Games, Damjan Pintar assisted Lukas Hettiaratchi – a young Sri Lankan cross country skier – in organizing professional training camps in Slovenia and New Zeland.
Czech coach Jiri Danicek worked individually with the athlete for over 10 days in the Planica indoor hall guaranteeing perfect snow conditions on improving his cross country technique and physical training. HIT Alpinea company from Kranjska Gora secured optimal accommodation and nutrition during his stay.
Following the arrangements made by Damjan Pintar, Lukas Hettiaratchi will also attend an alpine skiing training camp in New Zeland with Slovenian coach Florjan Jagodic working there currently with American skiers.
It is worth mentioning that the judokas from Sri Lanka who trained in Slovenia with Marjan Fabjan and Olympic champion Urška Žolnir, prior to the Olympic games, already left for Rio. We keep our fingers crossed 🙂
