IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup in Kranjska Gora

Between 14th and 16th January 2016, the World Cup in Alpine Skiing for disabled athletes was hosted for the second time in history, in Slovenia. The event was first cancelled in Abtenau, Austria, giving Kranjska Gora, Slovenia the chance to take it over and facing the new organizers with some serious challenges resulting from this last minute shifting.

Thanks to the Slovenian organizers´ prompt response 88 disabled athletes from 19 countries were able to compete in Slovenia not only in three but in four world cups. SporTour’s Damjan Pintar, ensured that every aspect of the event on and around the slopes of Vitranc, went as planned and was carried out to the highest standards desired.
It was also not the first time when SporTour’s professionals saved an international sports event cancelled elsewhere and successfully transferred it to a new location. “Three years ago, after the cancellation in Austria, IPC trusted us with the organisation for the first time and the event was successfully staged in Rogla Ski resort. Hopefully, with the current successful organisation of this competition, we have ensured our way into the regular program for the next three years.” – says Damjan Pintar.

We hope that with the success of the event the IPC will bring WC in Alpine Skiing to Slovenia again, offering new challenges to organizers.
