Sri Lankan athletes train in Slovenia again
In June and July young SriLankan judokas and a cross-country skier have once more visited Slovenia to gain new skills and learn from their European peers and coaches. SporTour is proud to have helped coordinate their training camps.
Chamara Nuwan Dharmawardhana – a judoka who participated in the International Continental Cup was offered the opportunity to train with Sankaku judo club from Celje. At request of Mr De Silva, secretary general of NOC Sri Lanka, Damjan Pintar, head of SporTour, is now together with Mr Fabjan – owner of the Sankaku club, investigating the possibility of a closer, long-term cooperation between Slovenian judo coaches and Sri Lankan athletes.
Hettiarachi Lukas – young cross-country skier who represented Sri Lanka at this year’s Winter Asian Games – was offered a scholarship to come and train in Kranjska Gora, Planica Olympic and Nordic centre. NOC Sri Lanka hired Jiri Danicek – a great cross-country skiing coach, and following arrangements made by SporTour, HIT Alpiena hotels provided world-class accommodation and nutrition plan for the athlete.
