China, Silk Road Ski Resort official visit
After the successful visit of the President of Chinese Silk Road ski resort – Mr. Li in Slovenia in April, SporTour organized an official visit to the Silk Road resort for the Slovene partners.
Situated in the western part of China, near the city of Urumqi, the Silk Road ski resort developed quickly in the last decade. Location and snow-wise It has the best natural conditions in China. And its owner and president – Mr Jianhong Li has big plans of turning the resort into the finest in the country – a world-class winter sports centre offering ski jumping, cross country, snowboard and biathlon facilities along with the necessary infrastructure.
In cooperation with Ms Alice Liang ( Snowturbo, China), SporTour has gathered a team of Slovene experts ready to share their know-how with China: Mr Jelko Gros, ski jumps specialist and director of the Slovenian Sport Institute in Planica managing the most modern nordic centre in central Europe, Mr Uroš Ponikvar, FIS certified constructor for cross country skiing and Mr Andrej Žigon from Alliance company experienced in developing snow parks and bike polygons around the world.
The Slovenian experts led by Damjan Pintar spent four days in the resort evaluating the existing infrastructure and visiting the potential sites where new facilities could be built and in conclusion agreed to help with ideas and specific plans for the Silk Road ski resort development.
